Micromosaic Pendant of Sophia
One-of-a-kind, handmade micro-mosaic pendant composed of individually set stone tesserae within an 18k hammered gold frame. Each mosaic is created entirely by hand over several months by a single master artisan, using contemporary adaptations of ancient mosaic techniques. This level of tesserae precision and density is exceptionally rare in the modern day and produced exclusively for the House of MÌREL.
The frame features sculpted spikes with channel-set diamonds, while the back of the pendant is fully covered in hammered gold. A unique double-chain design is engineered to mimic a ray of light, echoing the pendant’s central motif. The design references a historic symbol found in the Byzantine Hagia Sophia. The piece is finished with a hammered gold logo end cap set with the signature MÌREL blue diamond.
